Building plans, also sometimes called "plots" by the community, are the bread and butter of Sim Settlements 2's mechanics. They are designs created by the community that settlers can build themselves so that players don't need to build structures piece by piece (but they still can if they want to).
Check the Sim Settlements 2 Wiki for details for details on plot and building plan mechanics.
Sizes
Most building plans are designed to fit within 4 plot sizes.
Building plans that extend outside of these sizes and are usually marked as
Tag: Oversized.
-
1x1
The smallest available size. While 1x1 plots are generally considered outdoor plots, many addon authors use them for interior designs as well. -
2x2
The most common size, as these were introduced in SS1. -
3x3
The largest available size. -
Interior
These are typically designed to be used indoors against a wall. Their size is technically 1x1½.
Levels
Most building plans have a 3 main levels and a Level 0 design that shows building materials before the plan is built.
Some plans have a 4th level because they were imported from SS1, where level 4 was allowed. However, SS2 does not support levels higher than 3. So these extra levels are not displayed on this website.
Branching Level Plans
When a building plan has multiple level plans per level, and the player has auto-upgrade enabled, Sim Settlements 2 will
select one at random to use when upiecepgrading.
If the player has auto-upgrade disabled, then the player can choose which level plan to use when using the ASAM sensor to
start the upgrade.
Skins
Authors can create building plan skins that modify the appearance of a building plan. They can even create them for building plans in other addon packs. When viewing a building plan on this site, if there are skins that can be applied to it, they will be displayed below the level plan screenshots.
Screenshots
The screenshots should be fairly accurate. Some building plans have randomized objects, so the plan might not look exactly
like the screenshots when built in the game.
When skins are available, SS2 will randomly apply them with "no skin" as a possible random result. So the building plan
screenshots might also have a random skin applied.
In the future I plan to add screenshots of the skin options as well.
I try to add notes to building plans that look like they have broken or missing screenshots to explain why they are broken or missing.
If you find screenshots that don't look correct, please contact me to let me know.
