Soft Launch
Samutz · Sep 6, '25 10:24 am CDTThis website is work in progress and some parts of it may not work correctly. I'm not pushing this to public places just yet, but wanted to get it online in decent working order so that I can get feedback from some of the community.
Some of the things I still have planned...
- Screenshots for more sections
I'm current in the process of generating screenshots for as many of the building plans as I can. After that I will look in to adding screenshots for more items. - Chapter 2 and 3 items
HQ rooms and war stuff - Community notes
I want to add curated notes from trusted members of the community to warn players of issues with some of the addon packs. - Stats for fun
I want to add a breakdown of some of the items, such as breaking down building plans by type, size, etc with some nice pie charts.
Here's an FAQ that will added to its own page later.
Where do I report issues, leave feedback, suggestions, etc?
I haven't setup a proper place to take feedback and bug reports, so for now find in me at any of these places and send me a message:
- @Samutz on any of the Sim Settlements Discord servers and some of the relavant Fallout 4 and Bethesda modding servers.
- Sim Settlements Forums
- Nexus Mods
- Github
Why are some screenshots missing?
I haven't gotten around to them yet. After I finish screenshoting the majority of the building plans, I will go through them and look for missing screenshots or screenshots that don't look right. Other sections might just be diffcult to screenshot efficiently, such as city plans, and will require more work.
Are you entering everything in by hand?
Nope. That would be a nightmare. I created an app using Mutagen that scans plugin files for SS2 content and then outputs the info in a format that I can then import in to the site's database. I also created a "mod" that makes use of a few script extender plugins and my own scripts to automate a good chunk of the screenshot process. I plan to release the sources for both of these tools at a later date when things are more stable.
This also means updates for new addon packs and such should be frequent since I can automate the process of adding and updating new and updated addon packs.
Why is Sim Settlements 2 and its chapters listed as addon packs?
So I can collect and display their items as well. They aren't technically addons, but most of their items, such as building plans, are structured the same as addons.
Why are Chapter 3 and Extended listed as one addon?
It's due to them sharing a Nexus page.
Will you allow user screenshots?
No, primarily because I don't want to be put in to a position where I have to moderate user content. If you want more screenshots, check the Nexus pages of the addon packs.
I may accept screenshots that addon authors want to send me if my screenshots have issues.
Why are some of the icons... weird?
I'm making use of Font Awesome's free icons, and there's not always a perfect choice to represent some things. Like how would make an icon for Agility? The feather was the best I could find. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
How is this paid for? Will there be ads or other monetization?
No ads. No data collecting/selling. No paywalling. No monetization.
I pay out of pocket for the hosting of this site, as well as others like GTASnP.com, because web development is both a hobby and part of my job. I create and manage these sites because I enjoy it and it also feeds back in to my real job where I also develop web-based tools.
I should mention that GTASnP.com has a link to my Ko-Fi page, which might be considered monetization, but it's not a necessity to keep any of my sites running. I setup the Ko-Fi account after a few people asked if they could donate to me. Like earning DP on Nexus for my mods, it's a nice bonus, but not a motivation.
